The first is a bulletproof drivetrain and that’s why all models come with a 1x drivetrain or the more desirable Shimano internal hub gear. Hub gears are great as they are fully sealed from the elements means there is virtually zero maintenance, ensuring reliable shifting all the time and no worries about breaking your derailleur on the council bike rack. The next factor is a lightweight frame that has comfortable geometry and touchpoints, and the ability to mount a rear rack and kickstand! The 6061-aluminium frame with custom, hydro-formed tubing means Marin could increase strength in the most important areas of the frame, whilst reducing material and overall weight in other areas where frame compliance is needed, this cloud-like comfort is further enhanced by the grips and ergo saddle. The steering is quick too, allowing you to zip around traffic and tight streets with ease. The third is hydraulic disc brakes. Whether you need to pull on the anchors in anger, or are riding in the rain, it's refreshing to know you have all the power and control that hydraulic disc brakes offer. Lastly, when it's only two small patches of rubber that keep you connected to the road you will have comfort knowing Marin has provided a set of quality puncture-resistant tyres. And there you go, you have the ultimate commuter bike by Marin. There are 3 models of the Presidio, the 1, 2 and the 3. All offering great features. Starting with the entry-level Presidio 1, it comes with a 1x8 Shimano Altus drivetrain, providing simplicity and plenty of range as well as a series 1 alloy frame and compliant Chromoly fork. The next step up is the Presidio 2, which steps things up to a series 2 alloy frame and fork, providing a significantly lighter package. Where will notice the biggest change is in the Shimano Nexus 7-speed drivetrain, which also features a rust-resistant chain too. To round it off you get upgraded Shimano brakes and improved finishing kit including more ergonomic grips and saddle. Lastly, there is the Presidio 3, stepping it up again to Marin's top of the Line Series 3 frame, which is one of the best alloy frames on the market. There is also the upgrade to the desirable Shimano Nexus 8 speed hub gear which is driven by a Gates carbon belt drive, which is the ultimate, commuting setup for simplicity and durability.
