Lake Balaton is the largest freshwater lake in Central Europe and a major holiday destination in Hungary. Next we’ll head further west to the artist town of Tihany, located on a peninsula jutting into the lake. Be sure to visit the Benedictine Abbey, which provides amazing panoramic views across the lake. Nicknamed the “Ibiza of Hungary”, this resort city comes alive in summer with concerts, nightclubs and festivals.
