MOTION: (This House supports the passage of the Special Seats Bill to guarantee additional legislative seats for women in Nigeria.) The 2025 Nationwide Inter-Secondary School Debate Competition is a flagship educational project organized by Bring It On Africa in collaboration with key education stakeholders. The competition is designed to promote critical thinking, communication skills, leadership, and civic awareness among Nigerian secondary school students, while fostering national unity and academic excellence through structured intellectual engagement. The competition is divided into two major phases: 1. Online Preliminary Stage (E-Debate Phase) This first phase is conducted virtually, enabling schools across Nigeria to participate regardless of location. Each participating state presents a team of four student debaters and two coaches. The debates are held online, using standardized topics and formats, and are judged by a panel of trained adjudicators. This phase serves as an elimination and ranking round, where teams compete within regional clusters. The best-performing states—based on scores, argument quality, and adherence to debate rules—qualify for the national finals. 2. National Debate Finals (Physical Phase). The top eight (8) states emerging from the online preliminaries advance to the National Stage, hosted physically in Abuja. This phase features three rounds: Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and the Grand Finale. The Qualified Eight States for the nationals are: Team Plateau, Team Benue, Team Kaduna, Team Nasarawa, Team Anambra, Team Osun, Team Yobe and Team Enugu. The national event brings together students, coaches, education leaders, media partners, and policymakers. It includes mentorship sessions, keynote presentations, and media exposure for the participating schools. At the end of the competition, the National Champion is crowned, with awards presented for Best Debater, Best Coach, and Best Team Spirit.
