Finally, the floor is completely finished. To be honest, this was one of the hardest stages of the entire build. But I’m truly happy it’s done — now I can walk freely on the floor and simply enjoy the result of this work. The process started with installing a metal mesh for rodent protection. This was a very time-consuming task, as the mesh had to be securely fixed and every small gap carefully closed to prevent mice from getting inside. After that, I covered the floor with kraft paper, which works as a breathable layer. It allows moisture to escape, helps regulate humidity inside the structure, and protects the insulation while still letting the floor “breathe” naturally. For insulation, I chose wood sawdust — a traditional and time-tested method used by our ancestors for generations. Sawdust provides excellent thermal insulation, is natural, eco-friendly, affordable, and works especially well in wooden buildings when used correctly. For additional protection against mice and other pests, I mixed dry slaked lime into the dry sawdust. This is a reliable and proven method that helps protect wooden floors from rodents and insects while keeping the insulation dry and durable. I also want to wish you a Merry Christmas. May your homes be filled with warmth, peace, and happiness. See you in the next video.
