El Relicario ~ Roland Shaw & his orchestra

"El relicario" is a swell paso doble tune composed by Maestro Jose Padilla who composed also many other recognisable tunes like, "Violetera" and "Valencia" among others. Here it is performed regally and bombastically by the arranger Roland Shaw and his orchestra, from his album of 1963 "Mexico!" (A keen ear can distinguish here also the last part of the famous "Mexican hat dance" or "Jarabe Tapatio", which is tangled with the dominant tune of "El relicario"). By the way, paso doble is a melody that some day was heard in the arenas of bull-fight. Thanasis Veggos (the leading actor of this film) had widely used in his films cartoonistic sounds, as well as cartoon-like music, which matched perfectly with the fidgety and squirrelly characteristics of his comical mannerism.
