In this first in a series of constructive critiques of integral philosophy, Steve McIntosh examines the blind spots of developmental psychology. By failing to accurately recognize the influence of intersubjective cultural structures on people's minds, conventional developmental psychology conflates the evolution of individual consciousness with the evolution of collective culture. As Steve argues, the relative development of a person's individual consciousness cannot be smoothly equated with the values-based worldview that provides their cultural identity.
