A perfect Sunday hike in the heart of the Troodos Mountains 🌄 (2026/01/25)

Great weather, great company, and two unforgettable trails around Almyrolivado in the Troodos Forest. This outing combines two hikes through some of the most striking and unexpected landscapes in Cyprus. The first is a 9 km circular trail that takes us through the remnants of the Amiantos Mines, a place that feels almost otherworldly. Along the way, we pass a hidden seasonal lake formed by winter rain and snow, and continue through the rocky creek known as “Loumata ton Aeton”, with several water crossings adding a bit of adventure. Some sections of the trail are narrow, rugged, and not well marked, but blue trail markings on the rocks help guide the way. Before completing the loop, we make a detour via a dirt road to visit a truly special landmark: an endemic Juniper tree, around 500 years old, standing 16 meters tall with a 1.42 m diameter. The second hike is a 2 km linear trail, easy and relaxed, offering a calm contrast to the more demanding circular route.
