I was like HECK YESSSS in the theaters when 0:39 played and the title card came in!!! I may be biased, but Wicked has certainly earned a spot on my "John Powell favorites" list. The full score album isn't even out yet, but they released one of my favorite cues from the movie early - the main titles! So I said "screw it, John's your favorite composer so why not try making a mockup? How hard can it be?" - well, I couldn't be more wrong lol 😂 Making a mockup of John's music by ear is always so challenging, his attention to detail is honestly incredible, and I find myself discovering something new every time I replay a section. Hopefully I caught most of the stuff in here! I've said this before, but it's worth mentioning again that the choir is STUNNING in this movie, both for the score and songs. And in this particular cue, they add so much energy (also one of the hardest things to get right)! I really like how they didn't hold back at all for the choir and just went full-on blast mode at certain times haha! I still think the live choir sound wayyy more lively (obviously) than mine. He began his journey into film scoring at the age of 12 and quickly discovered a deep passion for it. Bara has scored several short films, and has composed additional music for his first feature film in 2024 at the age of 15, making him one of the youngest composers to receive an additional music credit. He's currently working on more feature films as an additional composer. Bara has also collaborated with notable companies in the music industry such as Spitfire Audio, Cinesamples, Vienna Symphonic Library, etc. to create demo tracks for their sample libraries. As well as working with the Spanish theme park, Isla Mágica, to write music for teaser trailers. His music has gained recognition in some composing and film scoring competitions, where he was chosen as one of the finalists and runner-ups. In October 2022, Bara was invited to share his story during an inspiration session for Netflix's Youth Mentoring Connection program. And in December 2024, he had the opportunity to speak at TEDxSurabaya about his passion for film music. He was also featured in the documentary Embers of Surabaya, Echoes in Hollywood, alongside Bleeding Fingers Music composer Laurentia Editha. The film was screened at the U.S. Consulate General in Surabaya, where Bara, Laurentia, and the production team were interviewed about their work and experiences. Recently, Bara released a compilation album consisting of previously released tracks called Chapter One.
