Exploring Ushi-oni Festival In Uwajima City, In Ehime, Japan.

#ehime #japantravel #japanesefestival Thank you for being here :) In this video, I was visiting Uwajima-city, in ehime prefecture, the 5th prefecture out of my travel through all the 47 prefectures in Japan 🇯🇵 (I'd be happy if you comment your thoughts and share 😊) The day after witnessing the intense bullfighting culture, I participated in the annual Ushioni Festival held in Uwajima City. This festival itself, known as "Warei Taisai / Uwajima Ushioni Matsuri," is held for three days from July 22nd to 24th every year. It features brass band/drum corps parades, children's ushioni parades, Uwajima dance competitions, fireworks displays over the sea, and adult ushioni parades. With ushioni processions and dances, Uwajima is transformed into a city of festivities. The ushioni is a 5-6 meter long structure shaped like a cow, with a body made of bamboo, a long neck made of logs, a fearsome oni (demon) face for the head, and a tail shaped like a sword. The entire body is covered with palm fiber or red cloth. During the day, I enjoyed the impressive ushioni parade, and at night, I witnessed the brave "Hashirikomi" (running in) ceremony, which is part of the Warei Taisai.
