I have spent lots of time in Compostela, Nayarit, Mexico because I have "family" and friends there. But it's very rare that I meet other gringos. If I do, it's usually at the plaza, famous for its historic cathedral and tasty cafes. This couple was trying to find their way back to Puerto Vallarta (2 hours away by car), but got distracted by Compostela and decided to stop off for a few hours. Coincidentally, he had lived in Santa Cruz, California where I live, and her brother lives in Santa Cruz now. But they were living in Denver, Colorado.
