I made an algorithm in Desmos that generates a quadratic equation which simulates a string affected by gravity passing through two fixed points. Link: https://www.desmos.com/calculator/tlfmv6mreo I managed to implement it in a physics simulator I have been working on for a while. I plan to post more videos about it soon. It's not perfect, as the actual length of the graph varies a little bit, unlike an actual string. However it isn't really perceptible, since around extreme positions (like when the points are very close, or at ther maximum distance from eachother) the string approaches the correct size . I did this on purpose to avoid calculations with messy integrals involving graph length, as it could affect performance on the rendering of the simulator, aswell as being quite difficult to figure out.
