Today's video covers exercises that you can use to rehab a SLAP tear without surgery. A SLAP tear, which is a type of shoulder labrum injury, typically results in pain and shoulder instability. Shoulder instability describes a condition of increased joint mobility that makes the shoulder feel like it will slip out of the socket. Labral tears can cause significant pain and severely impair function. The good news is that they often respond well to rehab programs that are focused on building multi-planar strength and improving neuromuscular control. If you have a SLAP tear or suffer from instability of the shoulder, make sure to give physical therapy, specifically, neuromuscular control and strengthening exercises a try for 3-6 months before having surgery.
