Today I'm hiking the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge. This 24.5 mile route consists of the three peaks Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. I started the three peaks challenge in Horton in Ribbledale. This is the traditional starting point. I took on Pen y Ghent first going in the traditional anti-clockwise direction. It's worth noting there are no towns or villages to get supplies, only the farm shop, so you really need to be self sufficient. Water sources are few and far between to. I absolutely loved the route, challenging but doable. I'd probably recommend mid-height hiking boots for most weather conditions.
