Iyaloja-General Organized Ramadan Prayers for Security, National growth. Iyaloja-General Folasade Tinubu-Ojo yesterday called on the Muslim community and Nigerians to intensify prayers for the unity, security and progress of Nigeria during Ramadan. Speaking at the Annual Ramadan Lectures and Prayers for the Nation in Abuja on Wednesday, Mrs. Tinubu-Ojo emphasized the importance of seeking divine intervention for the country’s leadership. She described prayer as a powerful tool for unlocking greatness and mercy and should therefore not be neglected. The event drew prominent figures, including serving and former heads of government agencies, industry leaders, market women representatives from various geopolitical zones, and members of civil society organizations (CSOs). Islamic clerics led lectures and prayers, reinforcing the spiritual significance of Ramadan and the need for collective supplication. Addressing the gathering, Mrs. Tinubu-Ojo urged Nigerians to uphold prayer as a continuous practice beyond Ramadan, stressing that faith and action must go hand in hand in building a peaceful and prosperous country. She underscored the values of love, unity and charity, which define the holy month, encouraging citizens to embrace generosity and support for the less privileged. The market leader called on Nigerians not to relent in praying for the country’s security and economic growth, emphasizing that both spiritual and practical efforts are crucial to ensuring national stability. Acknowledging that ultimate security comes from God, she also encouraged vigilance and ongoing prayers for divine guidance for the nation’s leaders. She said: “It is only God that can keep you secure. But then, you should not fold your hands and expose yourself to danger. “So, we have to pray, commit the whole nation, the whole leadership of this nation into the hands of Almighty Allah, that God should use them to provide security for every Nigerian. “We have to continue to pray for them, not just during this Ramadan period alone. It is very, very key because it is only God that can give us whatever we need.” Mrs. Tinubu-Ojo also highlighted the significance of organizing the prayers during Ramadan, describing the month as one of divine favor and mercy. “You agree with me that we need prayers in Nigeria. At all times, we have to pray for our leaders, pray for everybody,” she said, describing the gathering as a spiritual obligation aimed at fostering peace, unity, and prosperity for the country. In their lectures on the benefits and lessons of Ramadan, Islamic scholars Prof. Sunusi Yuguda, Dr. Abdulahi Shahibu, Mikhail Daud and Sheikh AbdulWahab Garba, urged Muslims to uphold the spiritual discipline beyond the fasting period, emphasizing the need to shun vanity, practice selflessness, and sustain charitable acts beyond the holy month. The clerics, Sisters of Salawah, stressed that Ramadan is a period of spiritual rebirth and renewal, encouraging Nigerians to cultivate habits that promote societal harmony.
