CASKET OF SPELLS [EP] by Contemplatron ~ "Lha" (Dark Ambient : Tibetan Ritual Music - Meditation)

CASKET OF SPELLS [EP] by Contemplatron ~ "Lha" (Dark Ambient : Tibetan Ritual Music - Meditation) Thothori Nyantsen of Yarlung dynasty was the 28th King of Tibet according to the Tibetan legendary tradition. According to an indigenous legend, buddhist scriptures (among them the Kāraṇḍavyūhasūtra) first arrived in Tibet in his time. The tale claims that this happened in a miraculous way: the scriptures fell from the sky in casket on the roof of the royal castle. Though the king did not understand the purpose of the objects, he still kept them in a position of reverence. Several years later, two mysterious strangers appeared at the court of the king, explaining the relics. ~ Thothori Nyantsen or Lha Thothori Nyantsan (Tibetan: ལྷ་ཐོ་ཐོ་རི་གཉན་བཙན་, Wylie: lha tho tho ri gnyan btsan), was the 28th King of Tibet and among the members of the Yarlung dynasty's 42 kings who ruled Tibet from 127 BCE to 842 AD. According to legend, he received Tibet's first Buddhist texts from the sky and guarded them, his epithet "Lha" was his honorary title which means "divine, pertaining to the gods of the sky". Modern scholars believe that he indeed was an historical person and king. Since he is also mentioned in a Chinese source, they date his rule to the 5th century, because the 33rd king Songtsen Gampo died in 683; other calculations putting his birth at 173 or 254 are nowadays rejected. He did not rule over the entire Tibetan Plateau since the future Tibetan Empire had not yet been established. Mahayana Buddhist scriptures, among them the Kāraṇḍavyūhasūtra first arrived in Tibet in his time. Verbal history states this happened as the volumes and treasures fell from the sky onto the roof of the royal Yumbulagang Palace. Another account states there was the arrival of a Buddhist missionary who brought the gifts for the king. Regarding the casket of spells that fell from the sky, according to legend during his reign: Buddhist texts and treasures fell from the sky onto the roof of the royal Yumbulagang Palace. The scriptures included the Kāraṇḍavyūhasūtra. The king received these texts and guarded them, as neither he nor anyone else in Tibet at the time could read them. They remained there until they were reopened later, possibly during the time of a later king, Songtsen Gampo, for translation. Some accounts suggest this event might have an historical background, possibly representing the arrival of Buddhist missionaries. One alternative historical account suggests the texts were brought by an Indian scholar and a Khotanese translator, and the "falling from the sky" story might have been fabricated, perhaps by Bönpos (the pre-Buddhist religion of Tibet). This event is considered the legendary first appearance of Buddhism in Tibet. ~ Contemplatron Poland Tibetan ritual music is not concerned with the emotions of a temporal individuality, but with the ever present timeless qualities of universal life, in which our personal joys and sorrows do not exist, so that we feel in communion with the very sources of reality in the deepest core of our being. -- Lama Anagarika Govinda, "The Way of the White Clouds" Discover & Support: contemplatron.bandcamp.com/ contemplatron.bandcamp.com/album/casket-of-spells-ep ~~~ May all sentient beings benefit.
