Tries before Pre-escaton kill: 2 Tries before sub 4 kill: 15 3'41"50 Dawn of the Death star Alatreon refuses to give me a sub 3'40 lmao, or maybe i'm just bad, like Wilds GS. If you're here as to why i think Wilds Greatsword is flawed, then the main gist of it is that Wilds Greatsword is the antithesis to what made Iceborne Greatsword an interesting weapon. Not only is the weapon bottom in the dps charts, the only real damaging skill worth using is offset, which is a skill that doesn't require much thought to use, and when the game does punish you for spamming it, your only recourse isn't to use the other parts of your kit, but to just try against and charge offset because your other skills aren't worth much, tcs takes too long and you'd be hitting the air 99% of the time for it to be worth it. It's different from the TCS(True Charged Slash) gameplay in iceborne because hitting a TCS in iceborne actually takes positional and timing knowledge, as well as knowing the monster's moveset. So you see a significant increase in damage the more you learn a monster along with knowing the timing and positioning aspect of Greatsword. And TCS gambling allows for even more fun, along with clip farm potential. Basically, the ceiling for iceborne Greatsword is much higher than Wilds Greatsword, in both the skill and fun department. How does Wilds Greatsword get fixed? The answer is that it's complicated. Simply tweaking numbers of charged slash and strong charged slash isn't enough, unless they overbuff it, which is not good balancing(They did it for IG so maybe lmfao), but it's a good start. True charged slash is just too slow, and doesn't do enough damage for how committal it is, and with how monsters in wilds are designed(the hit tracking being really accurate because for some reason they though perfect guarding or offset is present in the majority of weapons), it's not worth using TCS at all. The solution lies around making the other tool kits of Greatsword worth using so you have options rather than just charging offset and waiting for the monster to run at you, making tcs charge faster, or adding interesting mechanics such as giving TCS a rocksteady and heal augment effect if you hit a draw slash and scs, or an offset(just an example). That said, testing and balancing requires time, and i don't expect and instant fix for the weapon at all due to the nature of how wilds is made, alongside with Capcom's own vision for the game.Of course, it needs actual testing to not make it too broken, but then i realized that lightbowgun exist, which is another issue i have with wilds (and iceborne to some extent), which is the huge disparity in weapon balancing and damage, and how some weapons in both games aren't rewarded much in comparison to the effort put into learning the weapon, but that's a different criticism altogether. #monsterhunterworldiceborne #monsterhunterworld #monsterhunter #speedrun #alatreon
