When it comes to lost media on stage shows based on kids shows there’s one that comes to many, like Rugrats A Live Adventure, Pokémon Live, and even less known ones like Arthur: A Live Adventure. But there is one stage show that is based on a kids cartoon that barely gets talked about in terms of Lost Media which is Clifford The Big Red Dog. Yes, before Clifford went into live action in the 2021 movie and besides the obscure home video Clifford’s Sing Along Adventure from 1986, there was actually a stage show that was pretty similar to Pokémon Live which was called well, “Clifford Live!” or “Clifford The Big Red Dog Live” which the live show surprisingly ran for a long time all the way back in 2004 until 2016 which was around for over a decade kind of like another children’s live show Seussical a Dr. Seuss stage show that ran from 2000 to 2018. But unlike that stage show despite the show ran for over 12 years in the United States a full performance of the live show itself has never been found online which only clips of footage of people recording it back in the day exists online. And just like Pokémon Live, a professional recording of the live show was actually filmed which existence of the recording was found on October 5, 2011, YouTuber CHGrile13 uploaded a clip of the live show possibly from some kind of DVD source, which is possible the channel does have a higher quality recording of it in the user’s possession, and similar to Pokémon Live it’s possible a home video release was planned at one point but it was cancelled for unknown reason which that clip uploaded in 2011 could possibly be from some kind of unreleased home video version of the show. Which is possible the channel was involved in the production of the live show and maybe DVDs were given out to people in the production of the show but it’s unknown how the channel managed to find the DVD source of the show. Another DVD source was also previously found in March 2, 2009 by YouTuber LaMichaelHendrix but it looks like a bootleg recording because the camera doesn’t move and it’s only one shot. The live show also seemed to not receive a soundtrack release at all which only two partial studio recordings exists on the two clips of dvd recordings that’s available online. The live show’s look of the stage show seemed to change around 2011 which the Clifford costume was changed and characters like T-Bone Lewis and Cleo Diller were no longer performed by costume performers instead replaced with puppets instead. Two commercials of the 2000s version of the live show was found in the mid 2010s and another one in 2022. Commercials of the 2010s version of the live show also has surfaced online. It’s unknown if Scholastic or Millis Entertainment has the professional recordings from the 2000s or the 2010s versions of the show in their archives. Maybe more material of the show can get found if it gets more well known than it already currently is, but only time will tell.
