SYMMETRY OF FLOWER BASED ON THE ARRANGEMENT OF FLORAL PARTS: Depending on the arrangement of floral parts on the thalamus the symmetry is of three types.ACYCLIC or SPIRAL: All floral parts are arranged spirally on the thalamus. Example: Magnolia.HEMICYCLIC or SPIROCYCLIC: Calyx and Corolla perianth are present in the form of whorls, and androecium and gynoecium are arranged sprially on the thalamus. Example: Hibiscus.ZYGOMORPHIC FLOWER: A flower can be cut into two equal halves by one vertical section only. Examples: Dolichos, Ocimum.ASYMMETRIC FLOWER: A flower cannot be cut into two equal halves in any plane. Example: Canna indica UNILOCULAR OVARY: One locule is present. Example: Dolichos. BILOCULAR OVARY: Two locules are present. Example: Solanum TRILOCULAR OVARY: Three locules are present. Example: Allium TETRALOCULAR OVARY: Four locules are present. Example: Abutilon Generally in every ovary number of locules are equal to the number of carpels. But in some plants number of locules may be less or more than that of number of carpels.
