Radio Free Asia was created in the aftermath of the 1989 Tiananmen Square pro-democracy protests in China. Across Asia, when despots and dictators use manipulation and misinformation to cling to power, it's RFA's uncensored reporting that delivers unvarnished truth with journalism in Burmese, Cantonese, Khmer, Korean, Lao, Mandarin, Tibetan, Uyghur, Vietnamese, and English. On March 15, 2025, the federal grant agreement that funds Radio Free Asia was abruptly terminated. RFA is actively fighting the termination in court. We've had to reduce 90 percent of our editorial staff. Language services have gone dark. There is still a small team of journalists remaining at RFA and we're determined to serve our audiences.
