Approximately 300 Paratroopers execute a joint forcible entry operation in Alaska in support of exercise Defender Pacific 2020. Defender Pacific also included Air Force F-22 fighters providing air support for the insertion of a High Mobility Artillery Rocket System to Shemya Island. U.S. Navy warships sail in formation with ships from Australia, Korea, and Japan as part of exercise Pacific Vanguard 2020. Marines and Sailors in the Mariana Islands participate in cooperative maritime exercise Pacific Vanguard. Marines participate in an Infantry Jungle Skills Course at the Jungle Warfare Training Center in Okinawa. The two-week course focuses on survival skills and increasing lethality in a jungle environment. Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcons from Alaska support exercise Valiant Shield 2020 at Andersen Air Force Base, Guam. USS America conducts a replenishment-at-sea with USNS Washington Chambers in the Philippine Sea. The U.S. Government delivers personal protective equipment to Samoa to help them prepare to treat any potential COVID patients.
