Not very often do three different players score their first big league goals in one period of NHL action, but it happened on this particular night as Jeremy Roenick, Mario Doyon and Dean Kolstad all got on the board. Wayne Presley's late goal was the winner in this closely-contested, mid-February Norris Division match from the Met Center. Denis Savard's torturous first season playing for new coach Mike Keenan was marred by significant injury to his ankle, the culmination of which occurred in this game (he first injured the ankle in a match in Madison Square Garden when he became tangled along the boards with Lucien DeBlois on New Year's Eve, then had it hit by a Dave Manson slapshot in St. Louis about three weeks later). I always thought that the shiftiness and lateral quickness which were so big a part of Savard's game were never the same afterward.
