Welcome to week 35 of pregnancy! This week, baby's about the size of George Foreman Grill, or a pineapple. Baby is nearly fully developed and ready to be born, with the exception of a bit more lung development happening over the next few weeks. Baby’s waste system is formed, and baby is now able to pee and form solid waste (known as meconium at this stage). Baby is not going to get much longer at this point, but will continue to plump up a bit before birth. You may notice the movements feel different while paying attention to kick counts, which is due to the lack of space to make very grandiose and powerful movements. Movements should still be just as frequent though. For expectant mothers, Roxanne discusses the potential new appearance of heartburn as baby takes up more space- what causes it, what are the symptoms, what can we do?! She also talks about the potential for changes in the clarity of vision, stating that minor change in vision can be caused by pregnancy hormones. However, you should call your provider if you are experiencing blurry vision to the point where you can't see anything, any loss of vision, dots in your vision like little black spots, or even feeling like your peripheral vision is now gone and it seems almost like the walls are caving in. Any significant vision changes should be discussed with you provider, as this could be a sign of preeclampsia. Additionally, Gina shares about her trip out of town this week and reports happily that she had some reprieve from her persistent pregnancy insomnia. She is nearly all prepped for her impending home birth and has all her supplies gathered for the early postpartum days. Comment below to let us know how YOU are feeling this week!
