When Instructors from the CMC School are in the field teaching classes, it is not uncommon for us to hear students talk about the comfort, or more commonly lack there-of, of their harness. We see this with harnesses from all manufacturers. The first thing to look for is that the rescuer is wearing the correct size harness. No amount of adjustment will correct the problem of wearing an incorrectly sized harness. The more common problem is that the harness is correctly sized, but not adjusted properly. It is important to follow the manufacturer’s instructions on how to properly don and adjust their harness. In this example, the ATOM harness has been donned with the dorsal connection too low. This will cause several problems. The position of the dorsal connection will be too low causing the person wearing the harness to be tilted too far forward putting additional pressure on the chest straps. The harness straps may rub on the side of the rescuers neck causing discomfort. The dorsal connection should be located so the bottom of the D-ring is in-between the shoulder blades in its stowed position. This will put the shoulder harness in the proper position, thus making for a comfortable fit. __________ #cmcpro #cmcpro_official #cmcrescue #rescue #roperescue #roperescuetechnician #roperescuetech #roperescueprofessional #roperescuetraining #sar #searchandrescue #firerescue #ropeaccesstech #whatswrong Website: https://www.cmcpro.com/ Facebook : / cmcpro Twitter : / cmcpro_official Instagram : / cmcpro_official
