Sleeper Bus Strike in Rajasthan! 🚌 Thousands of Passengers Affected | Latest News

In Rajasthan, operations of All India Permit Sleeper Coach buses are on the verge of a complete shutdown as bus operators announce a statewide strike against the Transport Department’s actions. The department recently issued hundreds of challans and seized several buses for violating safety regulations. Bus operators allege that officials are conducting unfair and one-sided actions, forcing passengers to disembark mid-journey and issuing random fines. After an unfruitful meeting with authorities on 27th October, the operators’ association gathered in Gopalbari and decided to proceed with the strike. Meanwhile, the Transport Department maintains that sleeper buses must comply with safety standards such as AIS-153, AIS-119, and AIS-52, and that all penalties are being issued under these norms. So far, more than 2,400 challans and 450 bus seizures have been recorded across the state. In response, Rajasthan Roadways has begun preparing additional services to minimize passenger inconvenience. However, private operators have suspended online ticket bookings in major cities like Jodhpur, Sikar, and Bhilwara. With over 8,500 sleeper buses transporting nearly 3 lakh passengers daily, this strike could severely disrupt travel across Rajasthan.
