Although this song is available on YouTube, all the video sources I could find of are very low quality, so I thought I'd rip my copy and upload it. (I don't think the B-side is available on YouTube at all.) Dee-Dee (Dee-Dee Hit Dancing Dolls / ディー・ディー) was a Japanese all-female dance and vocal ensemble formed in 1985 through Up-Front Agency as the popular and newly rebranded music show, Yoru no Hit Studio DELUXE, required a team of backup dancers. Initially known as "B. G. M.", they changed their name to "Dee-Dee" in 1986 upon their record debut, at which time the group consisted of 19 members. Dee-Dee was signed to Canyon and released only one single on July 21st that same year called "You've Got A Name", produced by Yuzo Watanabe. The members ranged from professional dancers, models, actresses and aspiring tarentos. An interesting anecdote, apparently, the recruitment of the members were not limited to talent agencies sending already established professional dancers and models, but anyone who wanted to audition, either themselves or through recommendation to Up-Front Agency. The criteria stated that those interested in joining the group must be able to dance (duh), sing and have an "appearance that could be used as a model". The group ultimately disbanded as Yoru no Hit Studio DELUXE marked its final broadcast and the members went their separate ways in 1990. As was common with large groups of young tarentos at the time (i.e. Onyanko Club --- Ushirogami Hikaretai, Ushiroyubi Sasaregumi and Nyangilas), in 1987, select members of Dee-Dee were chosen to form a sub-group called "Spinning Dee-Dee" and featured four of Dee-Dee's strongest vocalists and overall performers, namely Atsuko Mukai (向井敦子), Mayumi Kohsaka (高坂真由美), Natsuko Yokoyama (横山夏子) and Yuko Saitoh (斉藤裕子). Again, they only released one single on May 2nd 1987, also on Canyon. The A-side is a Japanese cover of American heartthrob Paul Lekakis' "Boom Boom (Let's Go Back To My Room) (although they dropped the suggestive latter part), an Italo-Disco classic. The original song had become a club staple in Japan and was featured on many different Eurobeat/Italo-Disco compilations at the time. Dee-Dee's version was arranged by the legendary Motoki Funayama and translated into Japanese by Ren Takayanagi. The B-side is a contemporary, kayokyoku Japanese cover of "Tell Him", a funk/soul classic by The Exciters, originally recorded in 1962. Also arranged by Motoki Funayama and translated by Ren Takayanagi. Track listing: 0:00 - Boom Boom 4:17 - Tell Him Catalogue number: 7A0719 Phonographic Copyright ℗ – Canyon Records, Inc.
