Rivers Cuomo was a very very busy man after the Green album. Not only did he decide to completely take over the band creatively, and take over all the management, he also decided to completely reinvent the band's signature sound to appeal to the hard rock more popular at the time. The result was, whether you love or hate it, Maladroit. But he never stopped writing even after Maladroit was done. He jumped back in to start recording a follow up fifth album that would release right after. The result were dozens upon dozens of songs that are commonly maligned by some fans as a creative low point for the band. Now, between the leak of those studio recordinfs years ago and the demo drops of 2020, we've heard nearly everything Rivers recorded for this follow up album, and what got left on the cutting room floor for Maladroit. And while there were truly some duds, there was also some great songs that went unheard by fans for years. This collection is my take on what it could have sounded like if Rivers released Maladroit as a double album in 2003, containing all the best stuff he wrote in that period that wasn't already included on Maladroit.
