Searching for History in Mainz Germany

This exploration of Mainz, Germany had me searching for Roman ruins and other clues into the ancient past of the city. Along the way I found the archaeological site of a Roman Theater and learned about General Nero Claudius Drusus and the founding of his military camp during the first century BC. I followed the walls around the 17th century Citadel to the Drususstein. Other sites include Carnival Fountain, Gautor Mainz and the Romertor ruins. We also see many historic churches along the way such as St Stephan, St Emmeran, St Quintin, Dom St Martin, and St Peter's church. I then finish the day with a walk through the Landesmuseum of History to see examples of Roman stonework. An important location of the Holy Roman Empire, this German city is full of ancient history waiting to be discovered.
