Pieter Bogaert, the talented son of Member Peter Bogaert, performs this original 'Schumannesque' composition comprising three pieces:- 1. Rasch und mit Feuer 2. Zart und mit Ausdruck 3. Lebhaft, leicht Pieter says: "If I had to pick my favourite composer, Robert Schumann would be a serious contender. I wrote these three short pieces out of admiration for his gorgeous music, and out of a desire to better understand his idiom and his idiosyncrasies. They reference his multiple sets of short piano pieces, such as the Kinderszenen (Scenes from Childhood), Bunte Blätter (Colourful Leaves) or Carnaval. The titles of the individual movements, which by themselves are already very Schumannesque, are taken from Schumann's Drei Fantasiestücke op. 73 for clarinet and piano (Three Fantasy Pieces), albeit in a different order. Belgian pianist Pieter Bogaert is currently studying with Frank van de Laar at the Conservatoire of Amsterdam. Until 2014, he studied with Griet Dodion in Brussels. While studying physics at university, he took piano and composition lessons with David Earl in Cambridge, and during his studies in Oxford, he joined the performance class of Raymond Fischer. Pieter has participated in masterclasses with numerous professors such as Boris Berman, Naum Grubert, Eldar Nebolsin, Jan Wijn and Boris Giltburg. He has also taken part in festivals such as The International Holland Music Sessions, Classical Summer Lisbon and Festival Young Talent Schiermonnikoog. In addition to his solo piano playing, Pieter loves to play chamber music. He has had chamber music masterclasses with Isabel Charisius (ex-Alban Berg Quartett), Nobuko Imai and Sebastian Schmidt (Mandelring Quartett) among others. Pieter has a particular focus on the Lied repertoire, and he was coached by Pierre Mak, Jeff Cohen and Gerold Huber. He has a duo with baritone Albert Jan de Boer. Pieter has performed in Belgium, the Netherlands, Portugal, Italy, Germany and the United Kingdom.
