After a long time looking for it, I managed to acquire a DVD ISO of the Famicom 20th Anniversary Game Music DVD, which includes a bonus Disk Writer video. As far as I can tell, this is the highest quality copy of this video on Youtube. Interestingly, the Famicom hardware used to originally record this footage only seems to have jailbars on one of the two nametables. The video level on the original DVD is quite dark, so I corrected for that with a Levels(0,1,168,4,255,coring=false) line in my Avisynth script, and adjusted saturation to 60%. Looking at Avisynth's histogram, that seems to have brought the levels up to around 16-235. I split each frame into fields in order to recover the individual Famicom frames. Unfortunately, this caused a tiny amount of vertical chroma jitter, which I slightly mitigated by shifting the even fields' chroma. Doesn't really seem to be that noticeable during playback. I upscaled it to 1080p60 in such a way that each scanline was integer scaled vertically, but horizontal scaling was done with a Lanczos filter. I also prepared an MPEG-2 preservation-oriented file with the only processing being the levels adjustment, which I may upload to Internet Archive if there is interest in doing so. Reuploaded because of a bonehead mistake where the MP4 I uploaded didn't have audio, but I thought it did because in playing it, MPC brought in the separate audio file that I thought I'd muxed in.
