The values of the real part of the allowed molecular orbital are visualized using Microsoft Excel (R). In addition, rough diagrams of the interatomic bonding are displayed as well, allowing an intuitive ordering of the kinetic energies of the various molecular orbitals. Two (2) final slides show that "bands run up" for s-type orbitals (energy increases as k increases in the first Brillouin zone) and that "bands run down" for px-type orbitals (energy decreases as k increases in the first Brillouin zone).
