MAPELASTIC HIGH FLEX Two component, highly flexible cementitious waterproofing membrane with excellent crack-bridging greater than 2 mm when applied by trowel or roller for waterproofing of balconies, terraces, planter boxes, bathrooms, wet rooms and kitchens. Also suitable for waterproofing irregular surfaces WHERE TO USE Mapelastic High Flex is a two component flexible cementitious waterproofing membrane used to protect concrete structures, renders with hairline cracks and waterproofing hydraulic projects such as channels, basins, storage tanks, balconies, planter boxes, terraces and irregular surfaces. Some application examples ▪ Hydraulic channels and basins; ▪ Bathrooms, showers, balconies, terraces before laying ceramic tiles; ▪ Prefabricated bathroom units installed with plasterboard, render or cementitious surfaces, lightweight cement blocks, drywalls and marine-grade plywood; ▪ Bridge decks, environmental decks, road and railway viaducts; ▪ Waterproofing precast joints; ▪ Waterproofing to external wall behind aluminium and stone claddings; ▪ Protection of concrete structures against carbonation attack; ▪ Re-roofing of concealed roof and RC gutters; ▪ Basement wall and floor, sumps and foundations. ADVANTAGES ▪ Excellent dynamic crack bridging property of greater than 2 mm crack widths. ▪ Excellent mechanical characteristics with the incorporation of Mapenet 150. ▪ Fluid consistency for easy application by roller. ▪ Compatible with ceramic, mosaic and natural stone adhesives. ▪ Permeable to water vapour by allowing concrete to “breathe”. TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS Mapelastic High Flex is a two-component membrane based on cementitious binders, fine-grained selected aggregates, special admixtures and synthetic polymers in water dispersion, blended according to a formula developed in MAPEI’s own research laboratories. When the two components are mixed, a blend of plastic consistency is obtained. It may be applied by brush, roller or spray machine on both horizontal and MAPELASTIC HIGH FLEX Two component, highly flexible cementitious waterproofing membrane with excellent crack-bridging capacity, greater than 2 mm when applied by trowel or roller for waterproofing of balconies, terraces, planter boxes, bathrooms, wet rooms and kitchens. Also suitable for waterproofing irregular surfaces. vertical surfaces. Due to the content and high quality of the synthetic resins, the cured Mapelastic High Flex remains flexible. RECOMMENDATIONS ▪ Do not apply Mapelastic High Flex at temperatures lower than +8°C. ▪ Do not add cement, aggregates or water to Mapelastic High Flex. ▪ Protect from rain and water spillages for the first 24 hours after application. ▪ Consult MAPEI technical service if installing wall stone cladding directly onto Mapelastic High Flex. ▪ Consult MAPEI technical service for advice on application to swimming pool. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Preparation of the substrate The surface to be treated must be sound and perfectly clean. Remove all cement laitance, flaky parts and traces of powder, grease, oil and remove compounds by sandblasting or washing down with high-pressure water. If the structure to be waterproofed and protected with Mapelastic High Flex is in a poor condition, remove the damaged parts by hand or mechanical means, or by using a high pressure water jet blasting because the reinforcement rods are not damaged and the structures are not subjected to vibration which could cause hairline cracks to form in adjacent concrete. Any loose parts and hollows in the surface must be repaired with Mapegrout or Planitop range. Absorbent surfaces to be treated with Mapelastic High Flex must be slightly dampened beforehand with water.
