SOUNDBITE: (English): Dr. June Reinisch, Director Emeritus, The Kinsey Institute: "We'd like to teach Americans a lot about sex because Americans need a lot of information about sex. I did a national survey in 1990 about sexual knowledge of the average American and they failed abysmally. And I don't see anything wrong with that, I didn't get any sex education either, and neither did most of us here. And so we hope that one of the things the museum will be able to do is to educate people, also to stimulate them to do more reading, to find out more information about their own sexuality." 12. SOUNDBITE: (English): Robert Hartman, works in New York: "It'll make everybody a little more relaxed. I'm hopeful that - from what I've read, there's a certain amount of, it's both informative but there's also some humour, which I think we could all use, when it comes to sex." 24. Wide shot interior museum gallery 25. SOUNDBITE: (English): Louis Giovino, Director of Communications, The Catholic League, which has protested about the museum: "It's exactly what we thought it would be. We called it in the press release the museum of smut, because that's pretty much what it is. They run this scholarly veneer that they're a museum on the history of sexuality, but basically it's just a front, I mean, it's mostly all pornography inside." 26. The latest museum to open in New York says it's dedicated to preserving and presenting the history and cultural significance of human sexuality. Its inaugural exhibition 'How New York City Transformed Sex in America' opens on later this week (Saturday, September 28) . The museum claims to not promote an agenda but rather, "open discourse and exchange." But it's not one you'll to take your children to. In fact, you can't, unless they're over 18. The still-unfinished galleries include explicitly sexual films, photos and drawings from the 19th and 20th centuries. A museum official said the collection draws on a growing body of scholarship on the subject of sex in recent decades. Though the museum has yet to open, it's already the subject of a protest. A Catholic League spokesman took a preview tour and called it a "Museum of Smut." A portion of ticket proceeds from the exhibit will go to benefit the AIDS Community Research Initiative of America, The Kinsey Institute and The Lesbian Herstory Archives.
