Taken as a whole, these are five breathtakingly gorgeous pieces of work, representing the dizziest heights that can be scaled by olfactory art. Of this quintet, at the drydown stage, Bois Des Iles is the quietest, but that was to be expected: the scent has always relied on the intimate, subtle qualities of sandalwood to create its own unique sense of mystery. Coco is as Coco does. I was probably a bit too harsh on it in the video: if all offices smelt of this stuff rather than the fruity-patchouli monsters we're attacked by these days, the workplace would be a happier place. Coromandel is still confidently pushing out that earthy, slightly camphoraceous patchouli. And No. 22 and Cuir De Russie are utter heaven... or, to be more precise, they're like two different expressions of heaven. The former is ethereal, silvery, almost chaste, whereas the latter is the paradise of bodily pleasures, richness and unashamed luxury. Both are superb. -- Thanks for watching.
