The Balkans in Flames investigates the violent breakup of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, tracing the deep historical and political roots of the conflicts that erupted after Josip Broz Tito’s death in 1980. The film examines how rising nationalism, economic decline, ethnic tensions and competing post-Cold War ambitions led to the devastating wars in Slovenia (1991), Croatia (1991–1995), Bosnia and Herzegovina (1992–1995), and later Kosovo (1998–1999). Through eyewitness accounts, archival footage and expert analysis, the documentary shows how a multiethnic state created in 1945 collapsed into violence marked by sieges, massacres and displacement. It reveals the political miscalculations, propaganda and fear that tore apart a region once imagined as a unified federation. #balkan #yugoslavia #warineurope #nationalism The Brutal End of Yugoslavia Part 1: • The Brutal End of Yugoslavia | Full Docume... _______ On Get.history, a free documentary streaming channel, you can explore historical mysteries, scientific breakthroughs, biographical content and untold stories from around the world.
