This episode was aired on 11 March 2026. For generations, the prosperity of Southeast Asia has been closely tied to its deep and productive relationship with the sea; however, the rise in global demand for seafood created persistent labor-related issues and significant policy gaps, which resulted in subpar living and working conditions for migrant workers in the Blue Economy across the region. Benjamin Harkins has joined us in this episode to discuss the new findings from the recently published report by the ILO on the working and living conditions of the workers across the region. Speaker: Benjamin Harkins - ILO Technical Adviser for the Ship to Shore Rights South-East Asia programme Moderator: Rosalia Sciortino - Associate Professor at the IPSR (Mahidol University) and Director of SEA Junction Link to the report: https://www.ilo.org/publications/towa... #towardfairseas #ILO #blueeconomy ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SEA Mobilities is an event series first launched back in February 2022 by SEA Junction and the Mahidol Migration Centre – Joint Research Unit (MMC-JRU), in collaboration with the IPSR In-House Seminar. With a new run in 2026, the series brings together experts, academics, practitioners, NGO workers, and migrants to discuss a wide range of contemporary mobility issues in Southeast Asia.
