after using glass mousepads for 4 years, no matter what pad i tried, i felt like i couldn't use cloth comfortably anymore. but the key83 mid is so good that it might be the exception to that rule. if you just want to watch this like a review, watch from 3:18 i have sleeve recommendations in the description below if you need them! also i highly recommend slightly larger skates for this pad: while i didn't mind normal dot skates, they do have a bit of a strange feeling interaction with the weave. the TBTL Controls (they are faster than the speeds) and Artisan Mizugomo Futae P8 are the way to go for the most glasslike experience. i also think that if you are a hardcore arm aimer on glass, the small amount of directional tug you get from sleeves on this will prolly be a dealbreaker. you would likely have to get the procision or another thicker sleeve to avoid this. discord (it's for my aim podcast but i don't have a personal one): / discord twitter: https://x.com/pinguefied/ Sleeves: KIBU Sleeve: https://jpgamingusa.com/products/kibu... this is my go-to sleeve rec for this pad now. doesn't require rotation or inversion, glides extremely well but isn't absurdly fast, and you almost never experience any directional tug at all unless you fully rotate your arm. it is a bit loose around the upper arm and i've gotten one report that the finger variant requires rotating the pad (idk if true), but i just cut a hole in mine and it's very comfy! EADALI Sleeve: thin, loose fitting sleeve. longest "gaming" sleeve in my collection too. I found the elastic band a bit tight around the bicep too. this is probably the fastest sleeve of the bunch and is pretty good at directional consistency. you can definitely feel a bit of a tug on certain arm driven movements but for the most part, it's very smooth and quick. at the perfect pad angle and within a certain arm range of motion, it does provide the most glass-adjacent aiming experience though, it's ultra fast. Polyester Shein Sleeve (the one in the video): https://au.shein.com/Solid-Fingerless... snug fitting, elastic sleeve that ppl with bigger arms may find uncomfy. this sleeve requires rotating the pad, so if you don't have a square one then this might not be optimal for you. inside out is okay, but drags a bit more. overall this sleeve has pretty uniform directionality, and is a bit slower than other sleeves on this list, which may be a good thing! Another Shein Sleeve I tried afterwards: https://au.shein.com/au/Solid-Fingerl... this one impressed me a lot. it's loose fitting, not very elastic, and covers quite a bit of the palm, which may not be desirable, but the glide on the arm is rly smooth and the material is much more breathable than most sleeves. the glide is quite fast but is still distinctly that cloth-on-cloth feeling. requires pad rotation though; doesn't work inside out. i've used this sleeve quite a lot since writing this on this and other pads, and it has some of the best compatibility across pads i've tried, rly solid experience for cheap. pls do not question why i bought these particular sleeves it's just for fps games,,,, TBTL Sleeve: really solid on a wider variety of pads but nothing special on the key83. works best with the pad rotated, but you can feel a bit of tug if you rotate your arms enough. it's somewhat thin and has an adjustable strap at the top of the sleeve, and glides quite quickly. Pulsar Sleeve: very comfortable sleeve that's thin and snug, but not tight. requires rotating the pad and it's not nearly as directionally consistent as the KIBU, but if it's all you have, i think it's solid. Procision (Matty) Sleeve: compression sleeves are not for me and there's no thumb hole, but some ppl swear by this one. works quite well with pad rotated. and has a very comfortable, not overly fast glide. Midori B4M: this thing is WAY too tight for me and also has no thumb hole. similar to the procision sleeve but a bit quicker. CW-X Arm Cover: it's good but not much reason to get it anymore. also requires inverting the sleeve or rotating the pad. thank you to @ViscoseOCE for letting me borrow the pad prior to its release and for everything else you do c: 0:00 Intro 1:00 Why can't I use cloth pads anymore? 3:18 What makes the key83 different from every other cloth pad? 5:27 Sleeve Compatibility. 6:43 How much does the friction change under pressure? 7:13 How did my aim translate from glass? 7:54 Texture 8:25 Quality of life benefits coming from glass 8:50 Speed/Friction Balance 9:30 The perfect middle ground between cloth and glass. 10:16 Does the base of the Mid stick? 10:30 What about the Key83 Soft? 10:59 Skate Compatibility 11:12 Who is this pad for?
