Sewing the Spring Trends 2022

I am so excited to bring you this week's video where I've rounded up some of the key trends for Spring this year featuring the sewing patterns and dressmaking fabrics you could use to recreate the looks. There were lots of new and exciting trends and although peasant style dresses are here to stay (which personally I love) I've focused on alternatives with slimmer silhouettes in the name of variety and for those of you who aren't so keen on loose fitting and voluminous looks. The key trends included lots of bright colours. I've heard it referred to as dopamine or endorphin dressing - the idea that bright colours can really lift our spirits and make us smile. I am 100% in on that idea as a lover of colour! Shorter skirt lengths ran alongside the midi and maxi lengths we've seen in recent years, there were still lots of ditsy and smaller prints, but also the occasional statement print paired with plains. As always I focused on genuinely wearable looks and was so excited to see some fresh, new ideas coming through including cargo pants paired with casual shirts, ruched tops, cut out tops and dresses, blazer dresses, fitted dresses with frills and puff sleeves, more structured wrap dresses with interesting design details and more fitted blouses with understated frills and ruffles.
