To know more or find more such videos please visit https://assimilate.in/ Mucormycosis treatment entails four steps: 1) early diagnosis; 2) reversal of underlying predisposing risk factors, if possible; 3) surgical debridement, if applicable; and 4) prompt antifungal therapy. Early diagnosis: It is critical to establish an early diagnosis of Mucormycosis in order to begin active antifungal therapy as soon as possible. Reversal of underlying predisposing risk factors: When treating patients with mucormycosis, it is critical to reverse/prevent underlying defects in host defense. If at all possible, immunosuppressive medications, particularly corticosteroids, should be reduced or discontinued. Surgical debridement: During mucormycosis, blood vessel thrombosis and tissue necrosis can impair antifungal agent penetration to the site of infection. As a result, necrotic tissue debridement may be critical for complete eradication of mucormycosis. Anti-fungal therapy: Mucormycosis is treated with antifungal medications such as Amphotericin B, Posaconazole, or Isavuconazole. These medications are administered orally (Posaconazole, Isavuconazole) or intravenously (Amphotericin B, Posaconazole, Isavuconazole). Dr. Shree Cuddapah Rao, discusses in detail about the management of Mucormycosis.
