My Official Website: http://www.EricBeaty.com Learn the essential techniques from my popular Bluegrass and Texas Blues Guitar courses: http://www.ericbeaty.com/about/#products It's time for another Will it Pick? video! In this video, I’ll be demonstrating one of my favorite picks of the past: the D’Andrea Pro Plec 1.5mm Tri-Point Guitar Pick! In the years before I discovered BlueChip and Dragon’s Heart Guitar Picks (with the former being my current and personal favorite), the Pro Plec served as my go-to pick of choice. I loved this pick for its warm, mellow tone, especially for playing slow songs like my “The Legend of Captain John” and “Lonely Tonight,” also available to watch on my YouTube Channel. I still highly recommend the Pro Plec for beginners looking to upgrade their pick thickness. If you want that legendary Bluegrass tone, you need the stiffness of a thick pick to keep up with your blistering runs, licks, and solos, and the D’Andrea Pro Plec holds up to the challenge nicely. The cons I list in the video are mainly due to the fact that the Pro Plec doesn’t have the “bite” that other picks like the BlueChip and Dragon’s Heart Guitar Picks do, so it’s not a great pick for jamming or soloing over a loud Bluegrass band. On your own in the studio, though, it definitely ranks high on my list. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the show. Here's hoping you learn something new that will help you along your journey toward guitar greatness! P.S.
