Experts recently gathered at the Vatican to discuss how a Church document on married life, remains relevant more than 50 years after it was written. The 2 day event examined Humanae vitae. It was published by Saint Paul VI in 1968 and was considered a landmark text against the manipulation of human life and explaining God's plan for marriage and the transmission of life. Moral Theologian, Ethicist and Cultural Analyst, Professor Pia De Solenni, joins to tell us more about this event, who attended and what some of the highlights were. De Solenni discusses what she focused on in her remarks as she was one of the speakers. Another Speaker, Cardinal Ladaria, said in his opening remarks that the current society exalts "freedom without relation to truth." He also quoted the late Pope Benedict XVI, who said of Humanae vitae, "What was true yesterday remains true today." De Solenni gives us her take on his comments. ------------ EWTN News Nightly provides the latest news and analysis from a Catholic perspective.
