Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur inaugurated the 1.8 km-long ropeway in January, 2022. As per them, it would resolve the increasing traffic on the road that connects to and from Dharamshala and Mcleodganj. Talking about capacity, it can carry 100 people in one hour in one direction. The 207 crore project has 10 towers, including two stations and covers the distance within 10 minutes. The top station of the ropeway is in front of the Dalai Lama Temple situated in Mcleod Ganj. The monocable detachable gondola technology is used in the construction of the ropeway. The fare is Rs 300 per person for a one-way trip, whereas Rs 500 per person for a round trip.
