History of Omega: "Top Notch Accessories, Inc. was formed in Jan 2001 in Gilbert, AZ. My mother and I started the company and have been the only owners or investors in the company since its founding. We started out selling parts and accessories for Hk platform weapons. Within a couple of years we started manufacturing several parts for the firearms. By 2003 we applied for and received an FFL so that we could expand into doing work on and building firearms. In September 2006 mom and I moved ourselves and the business to Arkansas. We decided to move the Corporation to Arkansas over closing the Arizona Corporation and forming a new one in Arkansas. We did this because we did not want to show a break in our business history. Top Notch/Omega is currently in our 18th year of business and looking forward to the next 18 years. As we grew in parts manufacturing we decided that we wanted to use the name Omega on our parts over Top Notch so we added the DBA on our FFL Omega. We slowly grew over the years and by 2005 had made and sold several thousand conversion kits that we had manufactured for the Hk USC allowing the standard USC to go from a thumb hole stock with a 10 round magazine to a pinned open UMP styled rear stock and a lower that accepted a 30 round Grease Gun magazine. Once the Clinton ban was lifted we were able activate our rear stocks making them side folders like the original along with using factory German UMP lowers and UMP mags. At this point we wanted to try to continue with growing in the USC platform and started reverse engineering the UMP. We worked slowly proofing the prints with 3D modeling and making revisions where needed. It took us until the spring of 2015 to pull the trigger and start cutting metal on the mold. We were told that the mold would take 3 months to produce, I knew that was not going to happen. It ended up taking 18 months and an additional 6 weeks at the molding house doing final fitting. We were finally able to run our first production run on the mold in September 2017. We have made several improvements and tweaks in the mold since the first run like adding a screw for the rear stock instead of a roll pin. This makes it easier to change out your rear stock/arm brace and add a little tension on the rear hinge to stiffen up the movement in the rear stock as desired. We have blackened the threaded inserts as well. Along with making several minor tweaks on the main pull for the inside of the receiver making everything flow well. I have been asked how I came up with the name for the Gideon Shadow. Well, when I started the project I had named the receiver MCS (multi caliber system) but as I progressed through the project I wanted something with more meaning for the name and had the thought occur that I always liked the story of Gideon. He was a great warrior that with his small army could triumph over huge armies, thus The Gideon was born. Then, not long before we got the project started one of my dogs, Shadow, was kicked by a cow in a neighboring property and tragically died from his injuries. He was the sweetest dog that had a wonderful personality and has been deeply missed. Because of his death and wanting to do something to remember him, the Gideon Shadow came to life A little bit about me. I grew up always interested in construction and building. I have owned my own business most of my life doing home building and remodeling. I have always loved working with my hands and creating things I can see and enjoy for many years as well as working with customers creating a project. After doing this for over ten years I looked forward to having a job that I did not have to haul myself and my tools all over the state and be able to go to a shop and work. This was something I had not ever done before and was ready for a change in my life. All of us here at Omega appreciate everyone’s support and business and look forward to the future!
