“Ndûmîrîri ya Mwathi” is a song I have heard and sang from the time I was growing up until now. It is one of the songs my mother used to sing when doing chores at home. When my late mother passed on May 3,2020, I keep on remembering the songs she used to sing. I chose to record this one out of several others because it ministers to me especially when I am going through difficult times. It reminds to look to Jesus for solutions. This hymn was written by author: William A. Ogden in 1887. The missionaries who came to Kenya had it translated in Kikuyu and that is how my mother learned it. It was sang in churches and it is in our Kikuyu hymnal, “Nyîmbo cia Kûinîra Ngai”I hope you will enjoy and be comforted by its words whenever you listen or sing it.
