The expansion microscopy user group brings together researchers to share experiences to enable rapid uptake of the technology. In this Expansion meeting we are joined by Invited Speaker Mathias Delhaye, University of Paris-Saclay, with his talk "Adaptation of Magnified Analysis of the Proteome for Excitatory Synaptic Proteins in Varied Samples and Evaluation of Cell Type-Specific Distributions". Mathias obtained his bachelor degree in life science at the University Paris-Saclay and his master degree in neuroscience at Sorbonne University. In parallel he attended the Ecole Normale Superieure Paris-Saclay in France, where he received a master. He joined Ann Marie Craig lab in 2019 for a year-long internship where he started to work on the Magnified Analysis of the Proteome for the study of excitatory synaptic proteins. He came back at the end of his master to start a PhD with Ann Marie Craig and Mark Cembrowski in May 2021, and finished the work of the adaptation and characterization of MAP. Mathias is now focusing on the study of Temporal Lobe Epilepsy: He plans to use the adapted MAP to study the synaptic pathology of this disease at the protein level, and in parallel using a state-of-the-art single cell spatial transcriptomic platform, called Xenium from 10Xgenomic, to study the changes of gene expression in TLE.
