The metalwork in the yamaha ws668000 battery box corrodes and the connection with the battery starts to fail. The problem with the battery box needing replacing is that a faulty battery box can stop your guitar working all together so it is dead or bricked. Most commonly the clip brakes off, but also the contacts sometimes ware or corrode.
