Boynton Canyon and Subway Caves Hike, Sedona AZ – Explore Arizona!

The Boynton Canyon Trail - one of my top 3 anticipated trails of the trip. Partly for the much-touted Subway cave, but even more-so for the native American cliff dwelling. While not a city, like Cliff Palace Colorado, it was still cool to visit the little caves …well, indents, actually …but still. As with Fay Canyon, All Trails was right on with their route. The beginning turned out to be the most surprising part of the hike, though. Didn’t expect it to be under cover of so many trees, along the base of some windy mountain faces, and with some uneven little rock scrabbles, all of which gave it just a touch of excitement over the flat open sand trails found around Sedona outside of the Red Rock Mountain Wilderness.
