Residents living in small towns around Louisiana have often experienced slow internet service and patchy cellular signals. The problem stems from the expense faced by providers to lay fiber optic cables over long distances. But as LPB’s Johnny Atkinson reports in this week’s Good News LA, the digital divide is finally starting to close. As new government programs and a small company make big investments, rural homes and businesses are starting to see a clean fiber and cable signal. Louisiana: The State We're In (SWI) SWI is Louisiana's only statewide news magazine. The program airs Fridays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 4:30 p.m. on the six-station LPB network that includes stations in Alexandria, Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Lake Charles, Monroe, and Shreveport. This award-winning show combines in-depth coverage about the important issues in the state along with expert analysis. https://www.lpb.org/swi
