New zither... or possibly lyre. I needed a distraction and wanted to build a new zither that was a bit odder. I also wanted an internal pickup, and to combine the good looks of one earlier zither with the nicer sound of my favourite zither, which is pretty too, but fairly conventional in shape. The result is actually pretty good. It's definitely striking, pretty enough, and sounds great, albeit different again. It electrifies well, but I'm not sure it's a zither anymore, leaning heavily in the lyre direction. It also kind of looks ancient, as opposed to the otherworldly and futuristic look I'd planned. I guess a lot of sci fi is grabbed from our past, and guess also that my personal leanings took over at some point. This is exactly what they looked like on my home planet. You'll have to wait if you want to hear it electrified, as wiring it up, and synching video with my rather crude audio kit is hellish.
