Off-leash training is one of the things I get asked about the most, and I really understand why! To many people, off-leash work looks like freedom - but my dogs have a LOT of rules they have to follow in order to be off leash, and it's something I always train. Off-leash training isn't about a single skill, and it's definately not just about the recall. Recall is important, but it's also the thing I hope I don't have to use very often. Recall is the tool I reach for, when other parts of the training have already failed. What really matters happens long before that. Off-leash work is built on cooperation and responsibility. It's about teaching the dog to notice you, without being constantly managed. I want my dogs to move freely, but to still stay mentally connected. In this video, you'll see small pieces of that work, and I'll also share some of my thoughts behind it. But I can't give you a recipe. What works for my dogs won’t automatically work for yours. Different dogs, different needs. I know there are trainers who can help you with this, and I help people to teach it as well - but not online. And I never guarentee any finished result, because it's about SO many different factors that can't just be checked off one time and then you're dog is able to be trusted off leash. One thing I will advice you to, is to work on your relation and connection to your dog. And then I advice you to understand you dogs drives and instincts, in order to work with it instead of against it. #offleashdogtraining #offleashlife #offleash #dogtraining #dogfreedom #vlog #doglife #happydoglife #healthydoglife #thoughtsaboutdogs #trainingdogs #dogtrainer #recall #dogrecall #dogtrainingadvice
