Learn more ➡️ https://www.pmi.com/sustainability Our number one sustainability goal at Philip Morris International (PMI) is to create a smoke-free future where cigarettes are replaced with less-harmful smoke-free alternatives. But our sustainability ambitions run much deeper than just substituting one product for another. In the Nordics, our team is making great strides in reducing litter from cigarette butts, by working with local municipalities and anti-littering organizations, to find innovative new solutions to the ongoing problem of cigarette butt littering. “In 2019 the Swedish government decided to put a law in place to ban outdoor smoking...this meant they were removing all the ashtrays from the public space and this led to an increase in butt littering.” – Annette Rosengren. Vapes, e-cigarettes and heat not burn tobacco products or HTPs are all examples of smoke-free alternatives. They are non-combustible products and produce either vapour or aerosol rather than smoke. WHY IS PMI WORKING TOWARDS A SMOKE-FREE FUTURE? It’s the right thing to do. There are an estimated one billion-plus smokers in the world, and they should be encouraged to quit.
